My Experience a review of sorts...:

Truly speaking when I was thinking of buying a bike, which had to be my first ever, the choice was not always very easy. It was made so more by the ever changing bike market in India where there is a new one coming out every other month or quater...

I was fishing between the Pulsar 200/220, Honda Unicorn and the Apache 160. I took test rides of all but Apache ust because I was apprehensive about it's smaller size, height, etc. and something told me that TVS made mopeds and how can they make bikes... but then I did researches, etc. and came to know that TVS was in-fact the leaders of the Indian Bike racing circuit, was part of some good technological collaborations with foreign companies, Suzuki, Mikuni to name a few... Then I had a chance of riding my colleagues Apache RTR, the 2007 model, and boy was I impressed with the straight line manners, road grip, turning radius, braking, the sporty feel, riding position that I was an instant fan of this bike... Next week i booked it and was riding pretty... and still going great after having done 2000 kms @ 51kmpl :-)

On-road price (Bangalore, Karnataka) - Rs. 65,000/-

I would say that the servicing of TVS people is not so great and that you need to tweak the bike a bit to your needs after the servicing has been done. By tweaking I mean the clutch play, carburettor tuning, suspensions, etc.

I would suggest -

Keep the rear suspension one step more towards the harder side from what they are set to when u buy the bike. I have it in the 3rd groove.

Adjust the carburettor screws, the idle and the air one, such that the RPM at neutral is around 1500-1800 rpm. This gives a smooth pick-up and swift gear changes.

Adjust the clutch play, as recommended in the user guide, for better gear box performance and no gear slips...

Somethings that I did

Raced a P180 in a drag at a traffic signal and it was no where to be seen after I beat it in 4th gear at a speed of 75+ or so.

P150's are always gonna trail your back and you can also give the P200's a good time, if you do get the nag of knowing how much you can speed up in the gears, individually...

The bike can take u to a speed of 80kph in 4th gear and then you can well imagine that attaining 120+ should not be a problem at all.

You would think that maybe if it had a 6th gear... :-)
